| We arrived in Camden Harbor at dusk with the fleet of Maine Windjammer schooners resting at their respective docks. |
| Early the next morning work was already getting done. A mother duck and her baby came by to supervise progress. |
| At 80-feet, the Mercantile is a sight on the Penobscot Bay. |
| Captain JR Braugh keeps his eyes on his sails as he expertly helms the Mercantile through Maine waters. |
| Mercantile at rest in Bucks Harbor. With the sunset, passengers chose to eat their dinner of stuffed haddock on deck. |
| Cook Laura Tittle kneads dough in Mercantile's galley. She cooks all the meals atop a woodfire stove, no matter the seastate. |
| Laura's finished product: perfection. |
| Coming into Gilkey Harbor, the crew rushed ashore and assembled a lobster bake by placing the lobsters into an aluminum tub and then covering them with seaweed collected on the shore. This was set atop a propane burner to steam the lobsters. |
| The finished product, much to the delight of the passengers. |
| To enjoy the sunset, younger passengers reclined in a hammock or climbed up for a better view. |
| The Islesboro ferry in the distance, while Mercantile is at rest for the night in Gilkey Harbor. |
| The passengers and crew alike are all smiles as we laze down the bay back to Rockland. |
| First mate Andy is at home on the bow sprit. |

I sailed aboard a Windjammer in 1980. It was one of the absolute best experiences of my life! This piece brought back vividly all those wonderful memories. I tell anyone who will listen that they simply must take a vacation aboard a Maine Windjammer!
What beautiful pictures of an even more beautiful experience. I sail around the Georgia Lakes and every year go back to my home waters on Mobile Bay. Again great shots!! Michael
A great cruise! A fantastic way to discover or reinforce a love of sailing. It respects a way of life long since past but deserving to be preserved.
I was on Cape Rosier as you enjoyed that charter. Saw you moored in Bucks that week as well. Penobscott Bay is by far some of the most beautiful cruising down east. My father captained the Timberwind out of Rockport harbor and I was crew on the Olad out of Camden as a teenager ( NOT A BAD SUMMER JOB)-Growing up in Camden and mid-coast Maine was something I cherish and thank my parents for. One day I hope to return.
Crewed on the Issac H Evans, Mary Day, and Timberwind 1975 - 1976. Best job I ever had!
